Born out of the vibrant music scene in Penzance Du Glas offer their own brand of inventive and energetic heartland rock combining influences from Americana and folk music.
It all began in 2016 when Du Glas (Cornish for ‘black’ and ‘blue’) began their adventure with Lucy Osborne (lead singer) and Anthony Power (guitarist and song writer) performing at open mic nights and jam sessions in West Cornwall. With Lucy’s background in theatre and Anthony’s catchy tunes and meaningful lyrics, the duo captured audiences’ hearts with their emotional and dynamic music. Teaming up with various talented musicians based in Penzance it wasn’t long before they were playing regular pub gigs and local festivals. The group has since grown to include the rhythm master Kevin Cook on drums, the groove machine Crisso on bass and the sweet sounds of Lou Peixinha on flute and violin.
Together this dynamic group mould their different musical tastes to create a very diverse set. Your average Du Glas gig will seamlessly slip from a bit of rock and roll to old American folk. Throw in a rockabilly tune for good measure and before you know it your experiencing the blues. Nonetheless, a few things are certain, passionate vocals and sweet, sweet music. Du Glas have been played on BBC Introducing and in 2018 released their debut album of original music Too Many Ghosts. More recording is planned for the future and the band are excited about expanding their horizons.
