APPLICATIONS FOR THE FAR STAGE 2024 NOW OPEN!

This is for all those wonderful and talented artists who would like to play on the FAR (Folk, Acoustic and Roots) Stage at this year’s Cornwall Folk Festival.

The FAR Stage will be back at this year’s 50th festival, from Saturday 26th to Monday 28th August. Whilst we are unable to pay for you to perform on the FAR Stage, we offer exposure and the wonderful reception given to all artists from the brilliant and enthusiastic FAR Stage audience, plus the chance to sell them some CDs and other merchandise. The last couple of years we have experimented with some live streaming, and will continue to do this in 2023. With minimal promotion of this last year we found listeners right across the world, so we hope this new strand adds to the benefits to artists. There will be official photographs taken throughout the weekend as has always happened. We will assume permission to both live stream and take photos, unless you object, in which case let us know in advance so we can ensure your wishes are met. Of course, photos and streaming will help your exposure through our Facebook page, website etc. The FAR Stage has a full PA and sound engineers to provide a high quality of sound for all artists. We will start at 11am and performance slots will generally be 30 minutes long with 15 minutes to set up. Each year we have more applications than slots available, so we focus on artists from Cornwall and the South West. We want to give new and developing artists fresh exposure as well as supporting more established local artists and those with a long relationship with the festival. We look forward to your applications, every one of which will be given careful consideration. If you were previously unsuccessfully when you applied, please don’t let that put you off trying again this year. We are all working to make the FAR Stage as much fun and as exciting with a great variety of music. So give yourself a chance to be part of what is an integral part of the Cornwall Folk Festival by applying to play the FAR Stage! Steve The FAR Stage Guy

We run our outdoor FAR Stage, which showcases the many great artists we have in Cornwall and the Southwest, during the daytime of the festival, from Saturday 24th to Monday 26th August.

We start at 11am and run until around 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 8pm on Monday, where the festival ends. Each act usually gets a 30 minute slot, so with a 15 minute turnaround between acts, we normally have nine acts per day, or 27 in total.

Our Festival Director has the unenviable job of trying to squeeze the quart of applications into the pint-pot of slots we have available over the three days that the FAR Stage will be run.

Successful artists will receive a refreshments voucher, the publicity that playing the Festival offers, as well as the chance to sell merchandise and to have a great time with like-minded music lovers.

Please use the form below to register your interest as a potential FAR Stage performer.

You can also put yourself forwrard to play additional slots at our Shanty Street locations.

Note: if you are interested in playing both the FAR Stage and Shanty St, you do not need to apply separately for Shanty St.
